Understanding different communities is a key part of GCSE level geography at Lammas. This term, our year 9 students have been exploring urbanisation: a topic which helps to give students a greater awareness of current issues across the globe. As part of the urbanisation topic, our students designed and created a model of a favela, representative of the illegal, unplanned settlements of Brazil.
Our students commented: "It was interesting to find out about how other people live and how big their community is within the favela." "I enjoyed learning about the causes of favelas and squatter settlements." Our students continue to develop key geographical skills and develop an understanding of world issues and sustainability. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
